Inverloch Arts and Craft Destash Day - April
Inverloch Community House
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Destash Day  Destash Day is a monthly get-together for makers, creatives, collectors, and crafty treasure hunters to share the love by selling, swapping, or giving away art and craft supplies. You’re welcome to book a table (provided on the day) on your own or share with a friend. It’s a great chance to clear out those unused fabrics, art materials, tools, and creative bits and pieces — and help them find a new home with someone who’ll love them. A quick heads-up: To make Destash Day worthwhile and enjoyable for everyone, we need a minimum of 10 booked tables for the day to go ahead. If we don’t reach this number, we’ll be in touch ahead of time and offer you a refund or the option to transfer your booking to another Destash Day. Destash Day is held on the second Saturday of each month, with our second event on Saturday 11 April. Start de-stashing – we can’t wait to see what treasures you’ll bring!

Autumn Clothes Swap - Reduce, Reuse and Recycle
Inverloch Community Hub
20-03-2024 7:00 PM – 21-03-2024 9:00 PM
Hello Swappers, The House in the Hub welcomes you to our Autumn Clothing Swap at the Inverloch Community Hub, Wednesday 20th March,7 to 9pm.   Clothes swapping is a clever and thrifty way to refresh your wardrobe, save money and help fight textile waste; so thank you for participating. If you have good quality clothes or accessories you value but no longer wear, this is the perfect opportunity to find them a new home. Bring up to 6 items of pre-washed clothing or accessories you value but no longer wear. These are then traded in for tokens to use as ‘currency’ for the swap. You can take one item for each token. This swap is for everyone, all ages and genders welcome! Event volunteers will guide you through the swapping process. Event Schedule: 7pm -7:45pm:  Check-in items: After checking in, catch up with friends, watch the Repair Café demonstration and meet new swappers. 7:45pam- 8pm:  Acknowledgment of Country and Swap rules explained. 8pm to 9pm:  Swap duration: What items will we accept: Clean, folded or pressed Good quality with a long potential lifespan Free of faults or with minor faults that are easy to repair (for example, a missing button) The best items to swap are good quality garments that you once loved but are no longer your favourites or perhaps no longer fit you perfectly. This way, you’re giving them a second life with someone new who will treasure them. Whatever you swap, please make sure you are emotionally detached from the item, as once it has been swapped you cannot change your mind.  What we will not accept: Anything pilled, pongy or too far from perfect Undergarments Swimwear Tracksuits  Please note that we have quality screening processes at our events. Any items left over after the event finishes are donated to a local charity.

Our summer book is ‘The Life to Come’, Michelle de Kretser's 2018 Miles Franklin Award winning novel. Set in Sydney, Paris and Sri Lanka, ‘The Life to Come’ is a mesmerising novel about the stories we tell and don't tell ourselves as individuals, as societies and as nations. It feels at once firmly classic and exhilaratingly contemporary. The book is available from the Library https://westgippsland.rbdigitalglobal.com/book/9781925575668

Our December book is The Weekend, by Charlotte Wood, which sounds like a great read. "People went on about death bringing friends together, but it wasn't true. The graveyard, the stony dirt - that's what it was like now . . . Despite the three women knowing each other better than their own siblings, Sylvie's death had opened up strange caverns of distance between them.Four older women have a lifelong friendship of the best kind: loving, practical, frank and steadfast. But when Sylvie dies, the ground shifts dangerously for the remaining three. Can they survive together without her?"
